Doctors are performing the procedure

Before being admitted to the hospital, the patient was in severe pain, so the doctors here performed DSA and found a giant aneurysm in the right internal carotid artery with the largest size ever (17mm x 30mm). If the aneurysm ruptured, the patient would be death fatal.

Through consultation, the department considered to select the most efficient method with the goal of removing the aneurysm completely and minimizing the risk of recurrence. It was necessary to intervene this aneurysm by flow diverter stent. This is a new procedure, which can only be performed in leading medical centers, with a team of medical professionals and doctors with expertise to implement with high accuracy. In this case, if the stent was moved away a few millimeters; or put in wrong position, or if it migrated before, during and after the intervention, this would lead to failure, causing harm to patient's life. Immediately after the intervention, the patient was alert with good attention, and able to be discharged early.

The procedure was performed with the direction and support of Dr. Nguyen Trong Tuyen, PhD., (Military Central Hospital 108), Dr. Le Vu Huynh, M.S., Dr. Nguyen Viet Quy, M.S., and the Intracranial Endovascular Intervention team of the Stroke Department and the Department of Anesthesia - Recovery, Hue Central Hospital.
