In addition, the project will implement programs to support livelihoods for people, in order to reduce the motivation for illegally exploiting the natural resources. A new approach is the Village Development Funds program, being managed by the people themselves to change their livelihoods or increase income from agroforestry or other livelihood activities. At least 50 hamlets, of which 30 in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam will benefit from this activity.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong noted the achievements of the CarBi Project phase 1, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany, implemented by WWF Vietnam in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam in 6 years (2010-2016) with a funding of nearly EUR 2 million.
"We hope the Carbi Project Phase 2 will be successful and commit to ensure that the project activities are carried out publicly, transparently and practically to the people and localities," Mr. Phuong emphasized.
