Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep (2nd on the left), head of the team applying the sonaStar surgical scalpel, has successfully transplanted a liver into a patient with liver cancer, in Hue Central Hospital.
The training course was carried out by two professors, Dr. Joo Dong Jin and Dr. Han Dai Hoon from Yonsei-Korea University, who updated and discussed the contents including evaluating and preparing living liver donors; laboratory tests, anesthesia, resuscitation, and surgical techniques in removing, transplanting livers of donors and recipients.
Korean professors also exchanged practical experiences at the liver transplant operating room through hands-on training for surgeons participating in this training course and the upcoming course on August 15 in Hue Central Hospital.
Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital said that besides organizing training courses, the hospital would send doctors and surgeons to Korea to continue learning updated techniques, in order to improve the capacity and professionalism in the field of liver transplantation at Hue Central Hospital.
