Counseling, running blood tests for young people who were interested in diabetes on the morning of November 14

More than 300 people, including patients, their relatives and medical staff participated in this series of events.

On this occasion, Hue Central Hospital and Vietnamese Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology deployed a series of important events such as counseling, free blood glucose testing, and introducing specialized subjects so as to heighten people’s awareness for the better understanding of "number 7" in the treatment and diagnosis of diabetes with two meanings, which are the value of fasting venous/capillary blood glucose ≥ 7mmol/l: one of the criteria to diagnose diabetes, and HbA1C value ≤ 7%: the target goal to evaluate effectiveness of current management of diabetes.

In addition, experts delivered the message that in order to lessen the risk of diabetes, people would need 30 minutes of walking every day; maintaining waist circumference below 80cm for women; less than 90cm for men, and patients with diabetes need maintain HbA1C levels below 7% ...

In Vietnam, in the 90s of last century, the ratio of diabetes in Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue was about 1% and that of Ho Chi Minh City was around 2.53%. According to the survey results in 2012, the ratio of diabetes nationwide was 5.7%.

In 2015, according to the report of the World Diabetes Foundation, IDF Diabetes Atlas, there were 3.5 million people having diabetes and this number was expected to increase to 6.1 million by 2040.
