Achievements
The impressive achievements of 2019 were started at the Asian Youth Chess Tournament taking place in Sri Lanka from April 2 to 10, Thua Thien Hue's chess players brilliantly won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals thanks to the efforts made by Le Thai Nga, Nguyen Ha Khanh Linh and Ha Phuong Hoang Mai.
After the impressive chess performances, Karatedo athletes made their mark in Thailand - the venue for the Southeast Asian Karatedo Championship from April 10 to 14. Only with 3 boxers Le Minh Thuan, Ho Thi Ha and Ho Dinh Thuan did the Ancient Capital’s team win 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
In archery, after keeping pace with the national record set in 2017 and existing so far in the women's 60m 1-string bow at the National Excellent Archery Championship held in April in Hanoi, athlete Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi continued to make a breakthrough with 352 points won at a distance of 30m 1-string bow. This female athlete beat the old record that has existed for more than a decade and set a national new record.
As a sport that has been building a position in the wrestling village of the country, it is not surprising that Hue wrestling team had a successful week of competition at the 2019 Southeast Asia Youth Championship & Championship in Thailand from September 26 to October 3. It is worth mentioning that although joining in Vietnam wrestling team only with 8 athletes, Hue wrestling team contributed up to 12 gold medals, 3 gold medals, 1 bronze medal.
Most recently, at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, contributing 3 athletes to the Vietnamese sports delegation, Hue sports won 1 gold medal in wrestling (Nguyen Thi My Hanh), 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal in athletics (Tran Thi Yen Hoa) and 1 bronze medal in Sambo (Duong Thi Quynh Nhu).
Among the achievements of Hue sports, perhaps the most impressive is shuttlecock when coach Nguyen Van Hien and athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh made history in shuttlecock in particular and Hue sports in general with 1 gold medal at the World Shuttlecock Championship in August in France.

Advantage and long-term vision
Overall, aside from the experience and certain investments for the top sport, the sports movement is currently a matter of concern for the ancient capital’s people. The evidence is that although the overall socio-economic situation of Hue is not as good as many other places, the corresponding investments for sports are excellent.
Aside from Hue city, every district, town currently has a tennis court, badminton court, football field... Huong Thuy has up to 3 swimming pools; A Luoi difficult mountain area has a privately- invested swimming pool.
“Hue athletes are hard-working, sharp and intelligent. Hue people are also crazy about sports. These factors combined with what Hue has, such as facilities, intensive training center, reasonable regimes, and the attention given by the leader levels ... provide the basis for more and more sport talent to appear. The sports talented youth form the nucleus to develop the movement and offer more opportunities for Hue sports to reap more achievements in the top arena,” said Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of Department Culture and Sports.
“From 2020 onwards, based on the general situation of sports nationwide, Hue will self-assess to realize where the potentialities, strengths are in order to make more investment in the spirit of efficiency, sustainability and concentration. In addition to the 9 key sports, Hue now has two more archery and shuttlecock, which are now seen as strengths. Maybe Hue will rearrange and select about 3-5 sports for greater investment. Simultaneously, it continues to provide appropriate mechanisms to attract and retain talent,” Mr. Hai revealed the vision of Hue sports to 2030.
However, the plan to lay a firm foundation for sports towards sustainable development proposed by Mr. Phan Thanh Hai and the sports sector is not only confined to such a level.
“Indeed, Hue has not yet perfected the athlete-training work, especially the elements of knowledge, psychophysiology... To address these limitations, besides consulting the modern sport centers with university-level training, Hue sports will find at least a psychological doctor caring for athletes from childhood to adulthood, providing athletes with a better foundation in every aspect, ”said Mr. Phan Thanh Hai.
In addition to increasing investment in facilities, training, coaching, attracting talent, arousing enthusiasm from top to bottom, how to create jobs for athletes after retirement is a hard nut about which the sports sector is concerned.
According to Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Phan Thanh Hai, the establishment of a sports club - a place to exchange and create jobs for athletes after retirement - is also a groundbreaking and feasible direction. It is because if the idea becomes a reality, this is the first sports club nationwide to be born with the human goal of creating warmth, sharing and creating jobs for the athletes facing difficulties after retirement.
After a bonanza year with the previous "sinusoidal" stage of Hue sports, with the long-term strategies Phan Thanh Hai and the sports sector will implement from the early 2020, hopefully, Hue sports appearance is getting better and better.
