The project “Hue city Water Environment Improvement” was implemented several years ago

At the meeting, Mr. Shimizu Akira - Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam highly appreciated the active consideration, collaboration, and support of Thua Thien Hue government in the work of implementing the projects and activities supported by JICA.

Furthermore, he also expressed his consideration for the proposal of provincial leaders in carrying out the extension of the loan agreement for the project “Hue city Water Environment Improvement” and desired to receive more detailed information and contents about this project. Since the signed minute, the loan agreement of this project will expire on December 31, 2020.

Exchanging at the working meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation Phan Ngoc Tho acknowledged and highly appreciated the practical and effective activities and support of JICA in the socio-economic development of the province over the past time, especially the project “Hue city Water Environment Improvement”. Regarding the extension of the loan agreement for the project “Hue city Water Environment Improvement”, the local authorities have also been working with the government, the Ministry of Finance, and related ministries.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho also requested JICA to support the province with a diplomatic note for the Ministry of Finance on the issues related to the duration of the loan agreement, as well as on the issues related to the changing of the project’s investor for Phase 2.

Mr. Tho desired that in the coming time, JICA will give more support to the projects of restoring infrastructures, environment, and restoring livelihoods for people after flooding; support to the project of tools for natural disaster management, building up the “Hue garden” model, constructing a dictionary of Hue cuisine, supporting volunteers and experts in many fields, especially those of cultural sector, etc.
