Honoring artisans and awarding prize for the Handicraft Product Design Contest

TTH.VN - The Provincial Department of Industry and Trade has just held a ceremony to honor the artisans and award prize for the Handicraft Product Design Contest.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong presented flowers to congratulate artisan Tran Duy Mong, who had just been awarded the title of People's Artisan by the President.

Speaking at the ceremony honoring the artisans, Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyen Thanh, said that 2020 was a memorable year for the craft sector, traditional craft villages in general and handicrafts in particular.

In October 2020, the President had decided to confer the title People's Artisan and Excellent Artisan on 10 artisans, including one People's Artisan, and nine Excellent Artisans. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee had awarded the title of Thua Thien Hue People's Artisan to five artisans.

Regarding the Handicraft Product Design Contest in 2020, after seven months of launching, there were 47 establishments, groups and individuals submitting their applications with 209 designs/products, including the group of carpentry, bone and nacre carving; stone carving, lacquerware; crockery, etc. The results read out that there were 13 products, product sets winning the prizes, including one First prize, two Second prizes, three Third prizes, and seven Consolation prizes.

Particularly, the Long Phung porcelain enamel dish set (decorated with dragons and phoenixes) by the group of creators Do Huu Triet - Tran Nam Long - Nguyen Quoc Hieu has won the First prize. The two Second prizes belonged to the unique Hue souvenir set “Binh phong" (the front screen) by the creator Pham Dang Nhat Thai, at 26 Vo Thi Sau Street; and the Hue Ao Dai inspired by the decorative sculpture art in Hue architecture by Viet Bao QB One Member Co. Ltd.

Three Third prizes were awarded to the 3D paper model of Hue Noon Gate by the creator Le Ngoc Tuan Anh, the household tray and sheet set on "Connecting the quintessence of Hue craft villages" by the group of creators Nguyen Van Du and Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, and Hue kite lamp set by the creator Nguyen Van Hoang.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong congratulated the artisans who were honored, and the creator winning the prizes. He affirmed that the preservation, development and restoration of traditional craft villages was one of important contents to be carried out..., contributing to the local socio-economic development; the preserving and promoting Hue cultural identity through the introduction and promotion of traditional handicrafts products.
