Project Phu Son Waste Power Plant is invested by EB Energy Environment Co., Ltd. The project was started on November 16, 2021 with a total investment capital of 74.55 million USD (equivalent to about 1,700 billion VND); land area of about 11.2 hectares, with a household waste treatment capacity of 600 tons/day and night; turbine generator with capacity of 12MW; landfill rate after treatment <7%.
Although the project was implemented during the complicated period of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the attention and support of local departments and agencies and the efforts and determination of investors and construction contractors, the factory was completed and put into trial operation in January 2024.
This factory is one of the most modern addresses for household waste treatment and electricity generation in Vietnam at this time. Currently, according to the waste treatment contract between the factory and Thua Thien Hue province, the waste treatment capacity is 500 tons/day and night and the power generation capacity is 10.5MW according to the power purchase contract with Vietnam Electricity Group.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, praised the efforts of the investor, experts, and workers of EB Energy Environment Co., Ltd. and contractors who have focused all resources, overcame all difficulties, especially two years of COVID-19 pandemic, completed the project on schedule, and ensured quality.
Provincial leaders said that Phu Son Waste Power Plant is a key project of the province. When the plant is put into operation, it will receive all domestic solid waste from 6/9 localities including Hue city, Huong Thuy and Huong Tra towns and Phu Vang, Phu Loc, Nam Dong districts with blocks of the generated volume is about more than 500 tons/day (accounting for nearly 90% of household waste in the province) to be processed using incineration and electricity generation technology instead of landfill technology. Thanks to that, we have fundamentally solved the problem of household waste treatment in the entire province with advanced technology and environmental protection.

“On Thua Thien Hue side, the provincial leaders committed to instruct relevant departments and localities, Hue Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, and businesses to collect and transport waste in the area, continue to coordinate, support, and accompany investors, creating the most favorable conditions to operate the project according to its goals and promote the highest efficiency," said Mr. Phan Quy Phuong.
