Prof. Dr. Thai Kim Lan with her collection of ancient pottery artifacts

Huong River Museum of Ancient Pottery is a non-state museum, located at the Thai ancestral worshiping house at 120 Nguyen Phuc Nguyen street, Hue city. The museum has about 5,000 ancient pottery artifacts which have been collected by Prof. Dr. Thai Kim Lan and her brother Thai Nguyen Ba, the late painter, for more than 30 years.

The pots, urns, jars from the pre-Sa Huynh - Sa Huynh, Cham Pa, Dai Viet periods... salvaged from the bed of Hương River are the embodiment of culture and history.

According to Prof. Dr. Thai Kim Lan, thousands of ceramic artifacts fished out from the Huong River have created a shape, reflected the history of the land. These artifacts will tell the stories about themselves, enabling us to better understand the cultural and historical value of the ancient capital.

Previously, the Professional Council of the Department of Culture and Sports had a meeting to appraise the project of establishing the Huong River Museum of Ancient Pottery of Prof. Dr. Thai Kim Lan and unanimously approved the project to establish the museum; at the same time the procedures were completed to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for decision on the establishment of the museum.
