At the working session, Bao Nhan, the director representing the film crew, provided an overview of the film project titled “The Last Empress” and introduced the directorial, production, distribution team, and the film production plan.

“The Last Empress” is a film project that has been meticulously prepared and invested in since 2020, drawing from a vast historical archive about Empress Nam Phuong in particular and the Nguyen Dynasty in general. The film aims not to reflect a specific period in the nation's history but rather to draw inspiration from the life story of Empress Nam Phuong to portray a real historical figure on screen.

The film focuses on the period of over 10 years that Empress Nam Phuong spent in the royal palace, exploring various aspects of her married life, from happiness to sorrow, with Emperor Bao Dai, until the day the royal family left the Imperial City to start a quiet life. In any circumstance, Empress Nam Phuong always shines with intellect, virtue, talent, and agility to survive amidst the turmoil of the time.

The film also portrays the figure of Empress Dowager Tu Cung, a traditional Vietnamese woman, with love and sacrifice for her family as well as her resolute determination to protect and preserve the cultural values and beliefs of the royal family and the nation as a whole.
