The Nine Dynastic Urns

All 7 members of the council highly appreciated and unanimously approved the Nine Dynastic Urns dossier. Suggestions were made to assist in the dossier completion before it is sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration and to UNESCO as final submission.

The Nine Dynastic Urns comprises nine bronze urns, ordered to be cast by Emperor Minh Mang in 1835. The relic was not only made to glorify the Nguyen Kings, demonstrating the power of the Nguyen dynasty, but also served as a geographic encyclopedia of Vietnam using carved patterns. The Nine Dynastic Urns was recognized as a national treasure in 2012.

Documentary heritages under the Memory of the World program initiated by UNESCO are documents of special value and great influence in the world. If recognized as a documentary heritage, the Nine Dynastic Urns will be the sixth world heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty to be honored by UNESCO.
