2,960 students participate in the provincial 12th Grade excellent student selection exam

TTH.VN - From October 3rd to 5th, the Department of Education and Training organized the provincial 12th Grade excellent student selection exam for the 2024-2025 school year at Quoc Hoc-Hue High School for the Gifted.

This year’s provincial excellent student selection exam has 2,960 candidates competing in two groups: Specialized and Non-specialized. Each group consists of 11 subjects: Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, English, French, Japanese, and Informatics.

For the Non-specialized group, 12th grade students from high schools and continuing education centers took exams in 6 subjects on the morning of October 3rd: Literature, Mathematics, Biology, History, French, and Japanese. In the afternoon, they had 5 more exams: Physics, Chemistry, English, Informatics, and Geography.

Students in the Specialized group took their exams on October 4th. In the morning, they were tested in six subjects: Literature, Mathematics, Biology, History, French, and Japanese. In the afternoon, they had five more: Physics, Chemistry, English, Informatics, and Geography.

On October 5th, candidates in the Specialized group took the speaking exams for the foreign language subjects.

The exam content for the Specialized group is based on the specialized curriculum for high school students. The duration for each exam subject is 180 minutes.

For the Non-specialized group, the exam content is based on the current standard high school curriculum up to the time of the exam and requires a thorough level of understanding, basic application and higher-level application.

The exam is conducted with strict procedures to ensure fairness. Candidates are only allowed to bring pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, and handheld calculators that do not have text editing functions or memory cards into the exam room. For the specialized mathematics exam, candidates are not permitted to bring handheld calculators. Additionally, candidates are not allowed to use the Vietnam Geography Atlas and the Periodic table of Chemical elements or solubility table.

The exam regulations and rules have been thoroughly communicated to participating students and teachers. Each participating unit is organized into groups, with teachers accompanying students to ensure their safety during travel to and from the exam venue.
