The story of marriage of Pa Co people

TTH.VN - With the concept that "a person only gets married once in their life", the Pa Co people (A Luoi District) always consider the wedding ceremony one of the most important rituals to mark each person's maturity.

The gifts prepared by the groom's family are money, gold, silver, cows, and pigs, etc., while the ones prepared by the bride's family are sheets of zèng, rice, local specialties, chickens, ducks, and stream fish, etc. On the wedding day, the bride's family hangs two sheets of zèng in front of the house, signaling that the family is having a happy event. Early in the morning, before taking their daughter to her husband's house, the bride's family holds a ceremony to report to the ancestors that their daughter is getting married. When bringing their daughter to her husband's house, the bride's family brings along the gifts such as zeng, boiled chicken, and wrapped sticky rice, etc.

Through the photo angles taken by Hai Duong, a photographer, Thua Thien Hue Weekly would like to invite you to "attend" a wedding ceremony, which was held under the traditional rituals of the Pa Co people, and re-enacted by the Department of Culture and Information of A Luoi District. Nowadays, while traffic has opened up, "bringing" the villages in the highlands of A Luoi closer to neighboring regions, one precious thing is that the younger generation of the people still wants their happiness to be connected and blessed with traditional rituals.

A Roang is far but close

A Roang is a border commune of A Luoi district, which is about 90km away from Hue city center. People living here are mainly the Ta Oi people. Being located at the foot of the majestic Truong Son Mountain, A Roang was once a poor and extremely difficult place to travel to. However, it is now an attractive destination for visitors who love the rustic beauty of people and villages in wild mountains and forests, or immersing themselves in waterfalls and lakes in the middle of mountains and forests.
