When I was still very young, candies weren’t as diverse as they are now. We only had traditional local sweets, like areca-nut candy, ginger candy, glass candy, peanut candy, bird’s egg candy, and pulled sugar candy… Back then, my grandmother would often come back from the market with a small packet of areca-nut candy, which had a simple label with a picture of Hue landscape.

On the afternoon of January 7, the People's Committee of An Dong Ward, Hue City held the opening ceremony of the program " Tet of Unity ", the contests of making banh chung, banh tet, and traditional crystallized ginger in 2023 at Dang Van Ngu Secondary School.

Next to the hot teapot wafting with the strong aroma of Hue ginger jam, Assoc. Prof. Truong Thi Bich Phuong (Faculty of Biology, University of Science, Hue University) started to tell the story about Hue ginger that her research team and she have been diligently researching for the past three years.
