In 1776, in the work “Phu Bien Tap Luc”, Le Quy Don described the land of Thuan Hoa as follows: "The inner and outer walls are built several thuoc thick (1 thuoc = 0.4m), using lime and porcelain pieces to create images of dragons, phoenixes, unicorns, tigers, flowers and grass". What he described is the mosaic art of the time of the Nguyen Lords. The pinnacle of this art form is reflected in the interior architecture of Emperor Khai Dinh's Mausoleum (Ung Mausoleum).
