In the bright picture of Vietnam’s tourism which has made a strong recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, Hue tourism shows positive signs in terms of strong growth in the number of international visitors and expanding the market of international tourists.

On July 20th, the provincial Red Cross Society, Oxfam in Vietnam, and the New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi organized a summary workshop for the project “Post-COVID-19 livelihood recovery for female farmers in particularly difficult and for difficult communes in Thua Thien Hue.” The event was attended by Ms. Caroline Rachel Beresford, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam.

For the first 8 months of 2023, the tourism industry has made a rapid recovery with 1.6 times as many visitors to Hue as the figure for the same period last year. In particular, international visitor arrivals were estimated to reach 672,000 - a 9-fold increase year-on-year. Total revenue from tourism activities has been estimated at 4,600 billion VND, 1.6 times as high asin the same period last year.

The rapid recovery of Chinese tourist market over time has created novel opportunities for Hue tourism.

Many large projects have been launched in the expectation of kick-starting the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue. With the policy of investment attraction, after the pandemic, the economy is making a step-by-step recovery.

According to the recent survey result, the main tourist flux to Hue in this period of recovery is from the North. Being proactive in connecting and supplying better products are the tasks offered to the tourism sector of Hue Ancient Capital.

It is necessary to strengthen the promotion and promote Hue tourism to international tourist markets when the markets are gradually showing a recovery.

Sharing guest sources, limiting risks and jointly contributing capital to invest in new products and services… are the ways for tourism businesses to have a better recovery.

The people lining up in a long procession solemnly bringing the Holy Mother through the central streets of Hue city created a colorful, but dignified and reverent sight.
