Six units jointly organize a conference on French - Vietnamese education

TTH.VN - On the morning of December 18, the University of Education, Hue University collaborated with the Asian Research Institute of Aix-Marseille University, the French Embassy in Vietnam, the French Institute of Vietnam, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, and the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Hue to organize the 2020 International Scientific Conference on "French - Vietnamese Education from the late nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century".

Many domestic and international delegates attended the conference

The conference attracted nearly 100 domestic and international delegates to submit their articles and register to attend, of which 53 articles were selected to present at the conference sessions.

The main topics of the conference focused on the formation and development of French - Vietnamese education in Vietnam in the periods from 1864 to 1954; contents and teaching - learning methods; language and literature in the curriculum; female education; types of education in Vietnam at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century in the relation with French - Vietnamese education; a comparison between French - Vietnamese education in Vietnam and the education in Southeast Asian countries during the colonial period; as well as French - Vietnamese educational heritage in Vietnam.

According to the researchers, the French - Vietnamese education that was formed in Vietnam from the second half of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century is an educational - cultural heritage, which has far-reaching and long-term influences in Vietnam and a number of neighboring countries. Via the conference, we can become more fully aware of the French - Vietnamese relationship in the history, and draw out positive factors so as to apply them in the current Vietnamese education reform. This is also an opportunity to strengthen French - Vietnamese research cooperation, contributing to the international integration of Vietnamese education in the modern times.
