Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong presented a souvenir gift to the Consul General

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong provided information on the socio-economic situation, potential, and development orientation of Thua Thien Hue in the coming time. He expressed gratitude for the effective cooperation through various organizations from the United Kingdom and affirmed the desire to develop friendly cooperative relations with British partners. He also requested the British Consulate General to pay attention and provide support in all areas in which the province has strengths.

In particular, the focus is on introducing British investors to potential projects in the province, particularly in the fields of manufacturing, processing, environmental treatment, as well as financial services, education, and healthcare; facilitating information exchange and connections between Hue University and educational institutions, research institutes, and organizations in the United Kingdom to support the development of joint collaborative programs, as well as faculty and student exchange activities.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed a desire for the British Consulate General to introduce cooperation with organizations from the United Kingdom to develop green and sustainable tourism models; support in promoting tourism through various forms; cooperate with major British travel companies to include Hue tours in their programs for British visitors. Regarding culture, the Chairman proposed inviting British art troupes to perform at Hue Festival, aiming to strengthen cultural cooperation and introduce Hue and Vietnamese culture to the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Ms. Alexandra Elizabeth Smith exchanged some information to learn about the local development priorities, major projects that the province is calling for investment, and solutions to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the United Kingdom and Thua Thien Hue in the fields such as education and trade. The Consul General also expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the provincial leaders, and was impressed by the beauty of Hue City with its deep foundation of the Ancient Capital's culture. She expressed her belief in the stronger development of Thua Thien Hue in the future as it prepares to become a centrally-governed city.

Ms. Alexandra Elizabeth Smith said that during her time in Hue, the working delegation of the British Consulate General had visited Hue University, met with the University’s board of directors, attended an event of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and the British charity Newborns Vietnam. The delegation will also attend the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the University of Economics, Hue University...

Consul General Alexandra Smith has pledged to actively support and collaborate with Thua Thien Hue in developing the strong and spearhead sectors that the province has proposed.
