Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho presents a souvenir to Ms. Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative in Viet Nam

At the working session, Ms. Caitlin Wiesen highly evaluated the results of cooperation between UNDP and Thua Thien Hue Province in previous time, with the impression in the changes in many socio-economic aspects, and environmental landscape in recent time. She has been especially impressed by the "Green Sunday" movement that Hue has implemented and gained initial success, changing the locals’ awareness about environmental protection.

Ms. Caitlin Wiesen acknowledged the concern and support of the provincial leaders in the recent time, which contribute to supporting the projects implemented in the province with certain success, typically the project on "Improving the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities to climate change impacts in Vietnam”; and the project on “Conservation of important wetlands and associated habitats” implemented in the province. UNDP Resident Representative in Viet Nam hopes to continue the cooperation and implementation of projects in the province in the coming time, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho highly evaluated the UNDP's projects implemented in the area, which had contributed to strengthen the capacity to cope with the impacts of natural disasters and climate change for vulnerable coastal communities; and strengthen the capacity for effective management of protected areas so as to minimize the current threats and emerging threats from associated habitats.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes to continue working with UNDP in every field so as to support the response against climate change, carry out the Smart Urban Planning of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, and the conservation of biodiversity.
