The majestic autumn atmosphere filled the hall of the Song Huong Theater

This program was part of the 2024 Autumn Festival series, organized by Hue Monuments Conservation Center and directed by Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theater. The event attracted a large audience of music lovers, artists, as well as local and international visitors.

"Autumn for you" brought to the audience autumn-themed songs by renowned composers like Trinh Cong Son, Minh Ky - Nguyen Hien, Cung Tien, Pham Trong Cau, Duong Thieu Tuoc, Tran Tien, Pham Manh Cuong, and Ngo Thuy Mien. Notably, the evening featured a performance by Tran Tien, a famed songwriter known for his free-spirited style in Vietnamese music, alongside the Du Ca band. He and the group performed autumn songs and iconic works that have defined Tran Tien's career, such as Mặt trời bé con (Little Sun), Tạm biệt chim én (Goodbye Swallows), and Mẹ tôi (My Mother) ...

Throughout the performance, the audience was immersed in a nostalgic autumn atmosphere. The songs "Hoài cảm” (Nostalgia) and "Thu vàng" (Golden Autumn) by the songwriter Cung Tien evoked tender emotions of love, with simple yet poetic lyrics, set to light, joyful, and enchanting waltz melodies. Drawing from the folk melodies of Hue, "Tiếng xưa” (Echoes of the Past) conveyed a sense of melancholy and nostalgia, as the female singers serenaded on a quiet river, sharing their soulful sentiments, as though "swaying in contemplation" and dreaming to the tune of the lute in the late night air, "as if celestial music was close by."

The songs were performed by the artists with dance accompaniment

In part two, titled "Autumn River and Memories," Tran Tien led the audience through imagery of rivers, roads, and reflections on memories, as the melodies of “Dòng sông mùa thu” (Autumn River)and “Mùa thu trắng” (White Autumn) flowed gently.

As a beloved and familiar figure in Vietnamese music over many decades, Tran Tien's name and compositions have become intertwined with the beautiful memories of many generations of music lovers. On stage, he remained his unpretentious self, with his signature style, always accompanied by his guitar, singing about the joys and sorrows of life and human connections.

"Though I haven’t been to Hue many times, I love the ancient capital and its people. I love the gentle voice that I first heard through my dear friend Trinh Cong Son," Tran Tien shared during his interaction with the audience.

The third part, “Tình ta ngát hương” (Our Love in Full Bloom), featured timeless autumn songs by the late the songwriter Trinh Cong Son, such as “Nhìn những mùa thu đi” (Watching the Autumns Go By) and “Nắng thuỷ tinh” (Crystal Sunlight). Here, autumn came and went, leaving behind feelings of nostalgia and melancholy. The song “Thu ca” (Autumn Song) by Pham Manh Cuong and “Mùa thu cho em” (Autumn for You) by Ngo Thuy Mien stirred hearts with their beautiful melodies. Autumn arrived, bringing with it gentle winds and streets covered with falling golden leaves, along with the tender love songs of hearts "tinged with a new shade of green..."

Tran Tien, along with the Du Ca band, performed the song "Little Sun."

The 90-minute performance was a resounding success. The packed audience in the hall gave continuous rounds of applause for Tran Tien's performance, as well as the other artists. For many, the song "Little Sun," performed by the songwriter himself, brought back a sky full of memories. The soaring lyrics and sweet melodies about autumn lingered in the hearts of the music lovers, gently reminding them that autumn had arrived. As nature and the earth donned new attire, so too did people, embracing a new spirit filled with love and hope.

Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, expressed: "Along with the Hue 'Linh Phung' Ao Dai Festival on the evening of September 23rd, the 'Autumn for You' art program was a highlight of the Autumn Festival, which is part of Hue’s Four Seasons Festival series. We hope to bring the public and visitors new and emotional experiences through these special art programs," he said.

"Autumn for You" also marked the conclusion of the Autumn Festival, as we now look forward to the upcoming Winter Festival 2024 with its exciting programs.
