The project will be conducted by Hue Monuments Conservation Center to assess the current conditions of the site for the later restoration work.

The excavation site is the area on both left and right-side spaces of Thái Hòa Palace, with an area of 66 square meters, starting from June 5th to 20th.

In addition to the excavation of Thai Hoa Palace, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also granted the permission for Hue Monuments Conservation Center to conduct excavations in the relic area of the Nine Holy Cannons of the Nguyen Dynasty at both sides of the Ngăn Gate and Quảng Đức Gate, in front of Hue Imperial Citadel.

The excavation will be conducted in June, on an area of about 60 square meters as part of the upcoming preservation and reconstruction work of the two roofed structures that house the cannons.

These two structures are literally called the Left and Right Cannon Houses, made of wood, roofed with flat tiles, and have been used to protect the Nine Holy Cannons. Hue Monuments Conservation Center will restore the structures to its original architecture consisted of 5 compartments and 2 lean-tos.
