After two years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 27th Southern Don ca tai tu Festival 2023 in Long An Province was held at Van Phuoc communal house, Can Duoc district, Long An province where the music teacher Nguyen Quang Dai is worshiped.

Nguyen Quang Dai was a music mandarin of the Hue court at the end of the 19th century. In response to the Can Vuong movement against the French, he moved to the Can Duoc district in Long An province.

Based on pentatonic music and especially Hue court music, Nguyen Quang Dai supplemented and codified thoroughly a system of melodies into 20 basic compositions of Southern Don ca tai tu music. He also composed new songs, inspired the passion for music in other people, and trained many of them into the talents of Southern Don ca tai tu.

Through many ups and downs, the Hue royal court music has been carefully preserved and empowered through generations, acting as a strong connection of the past with the present and the future.
