Many young people chose Hue as a destination on the occasion of the New Year
Hue is a land rich in cultural traditions, a place keeping the unique features of the ancient Tet, and also an interesting destination attracting many visitors from everywhere to explore during the Lunar New Year, especially young people.
Tran Nguyen Phu Tai, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, who had planned his trip to Hue from a month ago, said: “After studying hard for a long time, my friends and I set up a plan to travel to Hue and booked plane tickets a month ago. This year, the weather on the first days of the spring was very nice, I went to the pagoda at the beginning of the year to pray for the goodness, as well as visiting the Imperial Citadel to experience the interesting things of Tet in Hue.”
This year, Hue Monuments Conservation Center opens the Imperial Citadel area for free for three days on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd days of the Lunar New Year. This is an opportunity for young people to experience spring entertaining activities in Hue Royal Palace; with a highlight is the space reenacting the royal games on Tet holiday. Many young people also choose to wear brilliant costumes such as ancient costumes and the traditional ao dai to capture the moments of the New Year with their relatives and friends.
“I am a person who is very passionate about history, and wants to learn about the cultural beauty of Hue people. This is the reason why my friends and I have chosen Hue as a destination on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Cat, so as to experience and save beautiful moments together in the early spring days. In addition, Hue cuisine is also one of the highlights that we cannot ignore in this trip," said Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, who is 19 years old and living in Nha Trang.
Similar to Thuy Trang and Phu Tai, many young people from all over the country such as Da Nang, Hai Phong, Vung Tau, and Nha Trang, etc., have also chosen Hue as a destination at the beginning of the year.
Hoang Nguyen Anh Thu, who is 26 years old and living in Hanoi said: “Many young people have chosen to travel instead of being reunited with their families during the Lunar New Year. This choice often stems from their personal preferences, and the desire to experience, as well as make the most of their vacation time. Moreover, my job is related to content creation on the social platforms, namely YouTube and TikTok, which requires me to set foot on many lands and increase my personal experience. Hue is a place that I chose for my trip on the first days of the year”.
Not only domestic young people, but also many international young ones are excited to visit, pose for check-in photos, and experience the taste of Tet in Hue. Kenneth Maynard, 23 years old, from the UK said: “This is my first time coming to Vietnam and also my first time experiencing Tet in Hue. Some Vietnamese friends have brought me to explore many places in Hue such as the flower market, the flower street by the Huong River, the Imperial Citadel, and Thien Mu Pagoda, etc. For me, this is a fun and exciting time when being able to celebrate Tet in Vietnam in general and Hue in particular."
During the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023, Hue has organized many experiential activities and entertainment spaces during the Tet holidays, including: going to Hue market on the 30th day of Tet; experiencing the Royal Tet in the Imperial Citadel; the Spring Festival 2023 at the southern bank of the Huong River with the theme “The Spring Aspiration”; and Sinh Village Wrestling Festival, etc. These activities have attracted young people from everywhere to visit and explore on the occasion of the beginning of the New Year.
