27 billion VND to reduce mine risk in Thua Thien Hue
TTH.VN - MOU signing ceremony of "Explosive Remnants of War Hazard Reduction in Thua Thien Hue Province" project funded by Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and the A.P. Møller Support Foundation (Denmark) has been organized by the Thua Thien Hue provincial People's Committee (PPC) and the Danish Demining Group (DDG) on the morning of June 1st.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong thanked the Embassy of Japan, the A.P. Møller Support Foundation and the DDG Vietnam for funding the overcoming of the aftermath of the war. It is hoped that the project activities will be effectively implemented, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and facilitating the socio-economic development of the locality.
According to the MOU, the DDG and the PPC have established a cooperative relationship to deal with explosive materials left over from the war. The project has a fund of approximately 1.2 million USD. It will be implemented for 2 years and commence after the project is approved by the Office of the Government. Sites are deployed in 10 communes of A Luoi District and other priority areas as proposed by the PPC.
