The exhibition has showcased many documents, artifacts, publications and 100 maps collected from many sources published by domestic and international researchers and scholars. In particular, there were four atlas (maps) published by the Qing dynasty and China including Chinese map published in 1908; Chinese full map published in 1917; Chinese postcard maps published in 1919 and 1933.

The maps detailed each province, showing clearly the transportation routes of correspondence and documents in Chinese provinces and cities. Places which were not in Chinese territory would not be shown in the maps. In these maps, China’s southernmost border was limited to Hainan Island without mentioning the Paracels and the Spratly islands. The two archipelagos of Paracel and Spratly were completely beyond the so-called "historical sovereignty" of China as they has claimed.

In addition, the exhibition also brought to viewers the versions of documents in Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script), Vietnamese and French documents issued by the feudal Vietnam and the French government in Indochina from 17th century to early 20th century. All of them confirmed the processes of establishment, enforcement and protection of Vietnamese sovereignty over the two archipelagos. The version of administrative documents issued by the Republic of South Vietnam government in southern Vietnam in 1954-1975 continued to confirm the processes of administrative management, implementation and defence of Vietnamese sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Paracel and Spratly.

Along with that, there were many photo documents on the economic, cultural and social development of the island district of Spratly in the country’s industrialization and modernization period; photo documents on the process of construction and development in Thua Thien Hue province, photos of the Party, government and people of Thua Thien Hue involving in the preservation of sovereignty over sea and islands.
