Provincial People’s Committee has given approval for project for restoration and sustainable management of protective forests

TTH.VN - On June 7, Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee signed approval to the 2018 operation plan and budget for the project: “Restoration and Sustainable Management of Protective Forests”.

The total expense for the project is nearly 10 billion VND ( 7.49 billion loaned from Japan’s ODA plus 2.36 billion as reciprocal capital).

The overall goals of the plan are to sustainably manage and protect protective forests, restore and conserve biodiversity as well as reduce poverty in mountainous area. The project also aims to restore and develop upstream protective forests, strengthen the ability of the local authorities and of the owners of protective forests, as well as to provide livelihood support to the communities and individuals participating in the management of protective forests.

The components of the project include: clearing bombs, mines and chemicals, developing protective forests, replanting upstream protective forests, contracted management of protective forests; supporting livelihood, developing forest infrastructures, and controlling forest fires, etc. The project is implemented in the communes of Huong Tra and Huong Thuy Districts.
