Thừa Thiên Huế province allocates over 4,000 billion dongs to resettle 4,201 households living on the Citadel Wall

TTH.VN - According to a project recently issued by the provincial People's Committee on February 22nd for citizen relocation and land clearance at Area 1 of Huế Citadel system, there would be about 4,097 billion dongs to resettle 4,201 households.

The project aimed at preserving and protecting historical values and conserving Vietnam’s most intact cultural architecture left by our predecessors for future generations, relocating households living in the Relic Area 1 to new residential areas to stabilize and improve their life quality, protecting the environment and improving the landscape, promoting values of the monuments and developing tourism products, and creating a motivation for socio-economic development.

Particularly, from 2019 to 2021 (phase 1), the authorities would complete the construction of resettlement areas and resettle 2,938 households in the target areas, including the Citadel wall, channels and ponds, the protecting trench and routes.

From 2022 to 2025 (phase 2), it would complete the relocation of 1,263 households citizens living at Tịnh Tâm lake, Học Hải pond, Xã Tắc esplanade, Khâm Thiên Giám (Directorate of Imperial Observatory), Xiển Võ Temple (Martial arts school), Lục Bộ (Six Ministries), the pond system of the citadel and Trấn Bình Bastion.

The project has proposed a livelihood support plan for the target people after their relocation. It clearly stated that the government would create favorable conditions for eligible people to work at traditional crafts industrial zone at An Hoa ward as they resettle. The provincial People’s Committee would implement social policies to provide households with access to preferential loans, develop trade and services, and create jobs through the development of local traditional handicrafts sector...

It also offered a plan to promote the values of the relics after relocating citizens, including the conservation, reintegration, restoration and reconstruction of their original elements based on historical records and documents. In addition, various exploitation solutions would be applied with an engagement of local communities and privatization resources.
