For Nguyen Hung, a teacher and artist, the folk culture of the land of Hue ancient capital has forged in him a unified and unique artistic language. With his quiet passion for creation, he has guided many generations of students to achieve brilliant success through 35 years as an art teacher in public schools and art training classes.

The collection of essays and notes, “A Yellow Apricot tree in front of the house: Notes on Hue - The elegant land of moss” (Vietnam Women’s Publishing House), was introduced by its author, Minh Tu, journalist, to book lovers at Hanoi’s Book Street (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).

When I was still very young, candies weren’t as diverse as they are now. We only had traditional local sweets, like areca-nut candy, ginger candy, glass candy, peanut candy, bird’s egg candy, and pulled sugar candy… Back then, my grandmother would often come back from the market with a small packet of areca-nut candy, which had a simple label with a picture of Hue landscape.

History books of Nguyen Dynasty record that after ascending the throne in 1802, Emperor Gia Long established the medicine agency to serve the court. However, it was not until the reign of Emperor Minh Mang that the structure of Thai Y Vien (Imperial Medicine Institute) was gradually completed. On the evening of July 5th, the Department of Tourism organized the opening ceremony of Hue Lotus Festival 2024 with the theme “Returning to the land of the Royal Lotus” at Tu Tuong Park, Hue City.

In recent several months, a great number of flocks of storks have been flying to perch upon the branches of trees by a lake in Thuy Bieu ward, Hue City, creating a picturesque and tranquil scene.

In this season, flocks of white storks appear, flyingon the green rice fields, creating a peaceful and poetic beauty for this rich mountainous area.
