Hue tourism aims to welcome about 3.5 - 4 million visitors in 2024

In 2023, the province welcomed nearly 3.2 million tourist arrivals, marking a 54.4% increase compared to 2022. Among them, international visitors accounted for almost 1.2 million, a remarkable 345% surge from 2022. The tourism revenue reached over 6.605 trillion VND, a 45.7% increase from 2022, meeting the set targets for 2023.
Notably, the number of tourists returning to Thua Thien Hue via the sea route has significantly risen, with 25 ships bringing 33,097 tourists to Chan May Port. Since its operation, Terminal 2 of Phu Bai International Airport has facilitated 70 international flights to and from cities such as Incheon (South Korea), Kunming (China), and Taipei (Taiwan, China), serving 7,322 passengers. In 2023, the tourism sector received numerous national and international awards and medals.
For 2024, Thua Thien Hue's tourism industry plans to welcome around 3.5 - 4 million visitor arrivals, with domestic tourists comprising approximately 60-70% of the total. Tourism revenue is expected to be in the range of 7,500 - 8,000 billion VND. The provincial tourism industry seeks to speed up its digital transition by focusing on smart management, experiences, and promotion. Tourism products will be developed with a strong brand identity based on Hue's cultural legacy, as well as numerous tourism-boosting solutions.
Speaking at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh stated that 2024 will be a critical year for the province, with the province seeking to achieve excellent success in realizing the project to raise Thua Thien Hue to a centrally-managed municipality. The role of the tourism service is critical in this regard. The province will focus on a variety of projects to transform Hue into a national cultural and tourism center, placing it as the province's primary economic sector.
