Traffic police force ensures the security and order for APEC
The APEC Women and the Economy 2017 Forum entitled “Enhancement of Integration and Economic Power of Women in a Changing World” takes place in Hue city from September 26 to 30. There will be about 700 delegates from 21 APEC economies attending major events and 8 events on the sidelines of the forum.
Senior Colonel Le Quoc Hung, standing member of provincial Party Committee, Director of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Police Department, said that the Provincial Police has actively cooperated closely with the Organizing Committee for APEC 2017, Sub-committees, professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and other related departments, branches and localities. The Provincial Police has also focused on directing and assigning specific responsibilities to the police offices of each unit or locality for building, promulgating, and organizing the implementation of plans and schemes on security assurance for APEC activities in the area.
At present, the tasks of security and safety for important places such as press centers, administration centers, airports, tourist resorts, hotel systems that directly serve high-level officials and delegations from the participating economies have basically had a specific assignment scenario. Information related to hotels that serve the high-level Week provided by National Sub-committees and Provincial Committees will also be regularly updated and sent to relevant departments by the security forces. In addition, there are options for securing the outer security and order, and the counter-terrorism plan; ensuring traffic and safety order in adjacent areas and routes. Moreover, the plan to respond to and handle situations causing loss of security and order is also calculated carefully and actively so as to ensure absolute safety for delegates and guests attending the event.
Senior Colonel Cao Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Staff informed that as the APEC Summit was the most important task of the year in Thua Thien Hue, the Provincial police has taken the initiative in organizing the implementation of plans and schemes to ensure security order and traffic safety at the venue of conferences, banquets, tours, accommodation and operation routes of delegates; establishing mechanisms for coordination, exchanging information, handling situations that may occur; controlling security, communication system for commanding and directing operations.
This is an event associated with political and diplomatic mission, special foreign affairs activities of the country and Thua Thien Hue province, contributing to effective implementation of the foreign policy. Successful protection of the APEC event, the status of Thua Thien Hue Police in particular and the People Police force in general will be elevated to a new level, contributing to the promotion of the socio-economic development of the Central region and the whole country.
