The JICA President Award Certificate honors the hospital's outstanding contribution to the work of human resource training and the social and economic development in developing countries through international cooperation projects. In 2021, the JICA President Award Certificate was awarded to 48 individuals and organizations worldwide, including Hue Central Hospital.

At the conferral ceremony, Mr. Shimizu Akira, the Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, expressed his deep gratitude to the Board of Directors of Hue Central Hospital and the hospital's entire medical staff for their close coordination in the projects with JICA. At the same time, he affirms that JICA, with the vision of "Connecting the world by faith", always puts its trust in Hue Central Hospital.

In 2004, JICA had supported Hue Central Hospital with its infrastructure upgrading project, worth 2,989 million yen. The project aims to improve the quality of medical services in the Central region by building infrastructure, and providing the hospital with necessary equipment so as to make it a specialized medical center in the region.

In April 2021, amid the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital received a batch of emergency aid from JICA in the pandemic prevention and control, which included three medical equipment systems, with a total value of 474,000 USD (namely the ECMO system, the portable X-ray system, and the ultrasound system).

Also in 2021, the hospital continued to receive “The Project for Enhancing Hue Central Hospital Capabilities in responding to SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19)", with the total value of 200 million yen, including essential medical equipment for intensive medical care and patient emergency services, fully equipped ambulances, as well as online training technical support.

Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, said that the JICA President Award Certificate was a great source of spiritual encouragement to the staff of Hue Central Hospital. At the same time, he hoped that the relationship and cooperation between Hue Central Hospital and JICA would be increasingly sustainable and growing, promoting the friendly and sustainable relationship between the two countries of Vietnam and Japan.
