Hue Help continues to support the project “Swimming for Safety” for students in Hue

TTH.VN - On the afternoon of February 12, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dung had a meeting with the delegation of Hue Help Foundation to discuss the work of continuing to implement the project “Swimming for Safety” for elementary students in Thua Thien Hue in the coming time.

At the meeting, Mr. Graham Buckley, the Director of the project, exchanged the activities of Hue Help in the field of supporting, training in swimming and sponsoring children together with their activities in Thua Thien Hue over the past time and the plans for activities and support in the coming time.

Accordingly, in addition to keeping on mobilizing the sources of funding to implement the new projects in the field of supporting training and sponsoring children at the Center for Nurturing and Sponsoring Children in difficult circumstances in Thua Thien Hue, Hue Help will continue to support the project “Swimming for Safety” for elementary students in Thua Thien Hue in the period 2020 - 2023 to improve their ability to prevent the risk of drowning in the provincial area.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Deputy Chairman Nguyen Dung acknowledged and thanked Hue Help for their practical activities for children in Thua Thien Hue over the years; at the same time, he affirmed that Thua Thien Hue government will create the most favorable conditions for Hue Help to implement humanity assistance activities and projects in the province, especially the two main projects including Supporting difficult children at the Provincial Children Sponsor Center, and “Swimming for Safety”.

From 2016 up to now, with the support of Hue Help, the project “Swimming for Safety” has been implemented in the provincial localities with nearly 100 teachers from primary schools have been trained in swimming and have taught swimming for over 3.000 elementary students. Furthermore, they have also held the media extracurricular activities on preventing drowning for students at certain primary schools in the provincial area. These activities have contributed to reducing the risk of child drowning mortality, especially in summer and raining, flood seasons.
