More than VND 7.2 billion to support services for people with disabilities in Hue

TTH.VN - That is the funding of the project "Supporting access to prosthetic devices, assistive devices, orthopedic appliances and related services for physically impaired women, men and children". The project is implemented by the Provincial Hospital for Rehabilitation and was launched on the morning of November 7.

The project is supported by the Christoffel-Blindenmission / Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and will be implemented in 4 years (2019-2022) in Thua Thien Hue.

The goal of the project is to help local people with disabilities access prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances through medical assistance. Thereby, the project will survey the attitudes of people with disabilities, organize training for medical rehabilitation workers, and equip rehabilitation facilities with rehabilitation equipment at the Provincial Hospital for Rehabilitation. The project will also support people with disabilities to use prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances; promote communication for people with disabilities to raise awareness about prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances services; building capacity on policy to support local people with disabilities ...

It is expected that at the end of the project, 50% of prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances services will be provided at the Provincial Hospital for Rehabilitation; 80% of people with disabilities have good access to and use prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances services and are pleased with health workers’ attitude when coming for treatment at the Provincial Hospital for Rehabilitation; 90% of health workers completed a prosthetic devices and orthopedic appliances service training; improved quality of life of people with disabilities and those at risk of disability...

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Coordinator, Executive Manager of CBM Vietnam shared that CBM's activities focus on prevention, care and treatment for blindness, physical disabilities and hearing-impaired people. CBM's rehabilitation activities ultimately help the disabled integrate into the community. To date, CBM has funded more than 1,000 projects in over 100 developing countries in the field of eye care, public health, rehabilitation and many other effective projects.
