Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference:
Recommendation agreement reached
TTH.VN - After 2 days of discussing many contents which focused on the theme “Intangible Cultural Heritage Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) towards Sustainable Development of Communities”, the Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference ended with a closing session on the morning of November 8.
The meeting agreed to adopt a written recommendation on the issue that had received focused discussions. With the commitment to put efforts to implement measures for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in the spirit of the UNESCO 2003 Convention, the Conference appealed non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders to strengthen their commitment to the community in order to participate in sustainable community development, through the protection of intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

With a message of respect for the important role of NGOs in the preservation of the ICH, the Conference reaffirmed the strong contribution of the ICH to the sustainable and prosperous development of the community, as well as committed to continue the protection of the ICH for the sustainable development of community.
Every two years, the Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference is organized, laying the foundation for active participation in the regional network of NGOs acting in the field of ICH preservation. At the same time, the Conference appeals to UNESCO and member states to continue to engage and support the activities of NGOs in the field of the ICH preservation, particularly the initiatives relating to connectivity and co-operation.
After 3 days of the conference, the delegates appreciated the coordinating role in organizing the conference of the host; and also appreciated Thua Thien Hue's efforts to protect ICH in the best way.
