On December 29, in Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam Airport Corporation cooperated with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to organize the construction ground-breaking ceremony of Passenger Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport.
Attending the ceremony were Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, together with leaders of ministries, branches and Thua Thien Hue province.

Construction project of Passenger Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport is invested by Vietnam Airport Corporation with a total investment capital of VND 2,250 billion, deducted from the Development Investment Fund of the Corporation.
The project includes work items such as passenger terminal, system of multi-level roads, roads, car parks and synchronous auxiliary items. The terminal has a unique design architecture, modern style, promoting the typical culture of Hue royal architecture with the characteristics of overlapping and reaching out roof layers. The terminal is designed with 2 levels, 3 floors, including 1st floor, mezzanine floor and 2nd floor.
The project has a construction area of about 10,118 m2, the total construction floor area being about 22,381 m2, with a capacity of 5 million passengers/year, ensuring to service 2,500 passengers in peak-hours. The passenger terminal will be invested with modern equipment, advanced aviation technology, providing many high quality utilities to serve passengers.
The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2021, thereby, contributing to strengthening the connection of Thua Thien Hue province with other provinces and cities nationwide, as well as with countries in the region and the world.
Leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the province at the ceremony to welcome the 115 millionth passenger
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Hoa Binh emphasized that in the coming time, the concerned ministries and branches should continue to pay attention to the project and prioritize the arrangement of suitable investment capital sources according to regulations to soon complete the infrastructure and services of Phu Bai international airport in-sync according to the planning already approved by the Prime Minister, with the goal that by 2030, it can receive 9 million passengers/year. Thereby creating the foundation and motivation to boost the economic growth, helping Thua Thien Hue "take off" and soon achieve the goal of becoming a centrally-run city by 2025 under Resolution 54-NQ/TW that has just issued by the Politburo.
On this occasion, at Phu Bai International Airport, Vietnam Airport Corporation held a ceremony to welcome the 115 millionth passenger in 2019.
