Central and local leaders cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the T2 Passenger Terminal |
The T2 Passenger Terminal at Phu Bai International Airport began its construction on December 29th, 2019. The project was undertaken by ACV as the investor and has an operational capacity of 5 million passengers per year (1 million international and 4 million domestic passengers), with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion Vietnamese dong.
The T2 Passenger Terminal is designed with functional spaces featuring two passenger transfer elevations. Its distinctive architecture is inspired by the image of Ngu Mountain, with the roof structure imitating the style of ancient royal palace, promoting Hue’s distinct cultural traits in a modern manner.

The terminal has separate areas for domestic and international arrivals on the first floor, while the departure area is located on the second floor, equipped with modern technological facilities. This is ACV's first terminal to apply digital transformation, upgrading digital infrastructure and platforms to standardize business processes, such as a self-check-in system for passengers, a self-service baggage check-in system, an AI-powered automated broadcasting system for passenger name announcements, as well as deploying the electronic chip-embedded citizen identification card system and facial recognition.
Additionally, the T2 Terminal is connected to the aircraft area through four aerobridges, including three Code C and one dual-lane aerobridge, capable of accommodating either one Code E aircraft or two Code C aircraft simultaneously. There are also other auxiliary facilities, such as parking lots for cars, taxis, buses, and group transportation, that are arranged in front of the station with a scale suitable to the design capacity and anticipated future development. The traffic flow into the parking area is designed to ensure minimal overlap with the traffic flow in front of the terminal. The motorcycle parking area for passengers is separated from other traffic lanes to avoid congestion with motorized vehicles.
