TTH.VN - On the morning of September 29, the project of Hue – Plastic Reduction Urban in the Central region of Vietnam, funded by WWF-Norway (through WWF-Vietnam and received by the People’s Committee of Hue City) in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Hue City organized a ceremony to hand over 2 garbage trucks worth nearly 10 billion VND.

Handing over 2 3-in-1 garbage trucks funded by WWF-Norway to Hue City |
According to the data provided by Hue Environment and Urban Works Joint Stock Company (HEPCO), the average daily household waste volume in Hue City was over 410 tons/day (in 2021), and this number continues to rise. Addressing the waste disposal to meet the goals of efficient waste management and environmental protection in Thua Thien Hue province in general and in Hue City in particular is a pressing, especially as the Thuy Phuong landfill (in Huong Thuy town) has reached capacity and closed.
According to the commitment of WWF-Vietnam, the 2 garbage trucks given to Hue City by WWF are the new 3-in-1 ISUZU model, meeting international standards with an average total load of 24 tons, output capacity of 206 kW/2,400rmp, EURO 4 emissions standards, and the maximum speed of 76 km/h. Each truck has an average capacity of 20m3 for waste. This kind of garbage truck optimizes operational costs and enhances the efficiency of collecting and transporting wastes from Hue City to the Phu Son waste-to-energy plant.
The 3-in-1 garbage truck includes a chassis, a specialized compaction container, and a high-quality double winch system for collecting waste from various plastic bins 120/240/660/1,100 liters, manual garbage collection vehicles, and a 10m3 waste boat (equivalent to about 5-6 tons of solid household waste). Thanks to the bigger waste capacity, the operation cost of this 3-in-1 truck is cheaper than other older models of garbage trucks used in Hue (with an average of 10 tons of waste per trip), contributing to reducing trips and time of waste transportation. Especially, with the big waste capacity and modern garbage compaction and processing, it will ensure minimal waste lost to the environment in the work of waste collecting and processing.
