Foundation for Supporting and Development of Sustainable Living Community:
Surveying and supporting building safe houses for the poor
TTH.VN - On November 11, working with the representatives of the Foundation for Supporting and Development of Sustainable Living Community (referred to Sống Foundation) in the provincial area, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong highly appreciated the work of implementing the project. The support of the organizations and individuals will help the local people have safe living places in the flooding season.

The Vice Chairman requested the localities to carry out the surveys and provide the list of households with difficulties and poor households so that the foundation can check and do the support; at the same time, the foundation will take the monitoring and promote the progress of project implementation.
Mrs. Pham Thi Huong Giang, Chairman of the Foundation said that the Flood Proofing House Program, which is under the foundation for Supporting and Development of Sustainable Living Community and which has been implemented since 2013, has built 702 houses and 9 models of safe house responding to natural disasters in various provinces all over the countries.
In Thua Thien Hue, the foundation will select the poor, near-poor households, as well as the households in difficult circumstances located in the areas affected by natural disasters or climate change which have demand and motivation on building safe houses. The project will support from 20 million VND to 35 million VND for the houses need to renovate, and from 30 million VND to 45 million VND for the houses need to rebuild. The supported households that need to make up the remaining labor cost and expenditures to complete the houses.
In the immediate future, the Foundation for Supporting and Development of Sustainable Living Community on implementing Safe Houses will survey the localities and choose to pilot from 20 to 30 houses, then do the research and expand the scale of supporting the project.
