147 Nguyen Dynasty artifacts currently on display at the exhibition

Featuring the participation of 29 domestic antiquities collectors, the “Antiques Gathering” exhibition showcases 147 artifacts and items from the Nguyen Dynasty, selected from various collections based on material groups such as enamelware, ceramics, precious metals, and wooden items.

According to Hoang Viet Trung, Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center, these artifacts were crafted during the Nguyen Dynasty, used both in the royal court and among the populace. They were made by court craftsmen and domestic production facilities (such as Cay Mai ceramics, wooden items) or ordered and purchased from abroad for use in the royal court and among the populace (some are enamelware; some, porcelain items).

“With the theme “Antiques Gathering”, the exhibition aims to create activities associated with long-standing traditional hobbies, while providing new experiences for residents and tourists in the heritage site. It creates opportunities for domestic antiquities collectors to interact, exchange experiences in collecting antiquities - an activity that requires players’ passion, appreciation for heritage, having financial resources, and intercultural knowledge to pursue their passion,” Mr.Trung said.

The exhibition is a part of the activities of Hue Festival 2024, alongside the Three Regions Ornamental Plants and Orchids Exhibition 2024 (taking place at Co Ha Garden and Thieu Phuong Garden - Hue Imperial Citadel).

In the ancient yet grandeur space of Kien Trung Palace, “Antiques Gathering”  hopes to be a venue for collectors, museums, researchers to meet, exchange, share, and explore an immensely attractive, diverse, and unique topic, offering tourists impressive moments when visiting the Hue Imperial City.
