Announcement of 17 more national intangible cultural heritages

TTH.VN - The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has added 17 more heritages to the list of national intangible cultural heritages, including Hanoi Pho, Nam Dinh Pho, the Quang An lotus tea preservation craft, Sa Huynh pottery making craft, and more.

Among the newly added national intangible cultural heritages are traditional festivals such as the Green Rice Pounding Festival of the Tay people (Chiem Hoa District, Tuyen Quang Province), the Tieu Mai Village Boat Racing Festival (Mai Dinh Commune, Hiep Hoa District, Bac Giang Province), the Tien La Temple Festival (Duc Giang Commune, Yen Dung District, Bac Giang Province), and the Gau Tao Festival of the H’mong people (Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai, and Van Chan Districts, Yen Bai Province).

In the category of traditional crafts, there is incense making (Tay Ninh Province), the mat weaving craft of the Khmer people (Ham Tan Commune, Tra Cu District, Tra Vinh Province), pottery making in Sa Huynh (Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai Province), brocade weaving of the Muong people (Kim Thuong and Xuan Dai Communes, Tan Son District, Phu Tho Province), and the lotus tea preservation craft in Quang An (Quang An Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi City).

In the category of Folk Knowledge, there is Hanoi Pho, Nam Dinh Pho, Quang Noodles (Quang Nam Province), knowledge of tailoring and wearing the Hue traditional ao dai (Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province), and the decorative art of the Co people’s bamboo poles (Tra Bong District, Quang Ngai Province).

In the category of Social Customs and Beliefs, there is the Xen Dong Ritual (Forest Worship) of the Thai people (Nghia Lo Town, Yen Bai Province) and the Xip Xi New Year Ceremony of the White Thai people (Quynh Nhai and Phu Yen Districts, Son La Province).

In the category of Folk Performing Arts, there is the Ru Un (lullaby singing) of the Muong people (Ngoc Lac District, Thanh Hoa Province).

Among these 17 newly recognized national intangible cultural heritages, notable examples include signature local dishes such as Hanoi Pho, Nam Dinh Pho, and Quang Noodles, which have been inscribed. This is not only an opportunity to preserve the heritages and promote their values, but also a chance to showcase the unique culinary arts of different regions, attract domestic and international tourists, and develop culinary tourism.
