TTH.VN - On the morning of March 15, the Thua Thien Hue Photography Association cooperated with the Vietnam Association of Photography Artists and the Union of Art and Culture Associations to organize a flowers and incense offering ceremony to commemorate the celebrity Dang Huy Tru, the ancestor of Vietnamese photography, at Dang shrine (Thanh Luong village, Huong Xuan ward, Huong Tra town).

Offering incense to Dang Huy Tru, the ancestor of Vietnam's photography

This is the activity to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the traditional Vietnamese photography day (15 March 1953 - 15 March 2021) and the 152 years on the occasion of Dang Huy Tru bringing photography to Vietnam (1869 - 2021). Attending the incense offering ceremony was Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

On March 14, 1869, the celebrity Dang Huy Tru imported photographic equipment from Hong Kong during a visit to Guangdong, China; and when he returned to the country, he opened Cam Hieu Duong photo shop on Thanh Ha street, Hanoi. This was considered the first photo studio in Vietnam, opening up the history for the development of Vietnam modern photography today.

Since then, every year on the occasion of celebrating the traditional day of Vietnamese Photography, many activities such as offering incense or exhibitions are organized to honor Dang Huy Tru. The Dang shrine in Thanh Luong village, Huong Xuan ward, Huong Tra town has become a familiar address for all photographers across the country.
