Quoc Tu Giam (the Provincial History Museum), inside the area of Hue Citadel, will be a place where the 2nd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is held |
On April 12, the Provincial People’s Committee informed the latest announcement about time changing as noted above.
The 2nd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is held by the Central Propaganda Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Provincial People’s Committee.
After the opening ceremony held on the afternoon of April 21, there will be various activities in the framework of the event such as book displaying, exchanges between authors and readers, and meeting the publishers.
Notably, in the activities organized in the event, there is the exhibition “Hue - past and present”, in which the organizing committee will display books written about Hue in the past and at present, as well as the ancient documents stored in Hue, the documents/photos of Hue in the period of renovation, development, and integration published into books.
Furthermore, there will be a book festival held by the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Information and Communication, together with related units. The readers coming here can visit and shop at the stalls displaying and introducing books published by publishers/issuing companies.
During the time of the book festival, there will be other activities for participants to exchange with authors, and introduce domestic and foreign writings about Hue. Every night, music shows will introduce participants to Hue’s cultural heritage. Additionally, in this event, provincial leaders will also have meetings with some publishers/issuing companies to have discussions on the development of the Hue bookcase.
The 2nd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day lasts until the end of April 25.
On February 24, 2014, the Prime Minister signed a Decision to take the annual April 24 as Vietnam Book Day. After 8 years of the anniversary of Vietnam Book Day, since 2022, April 24 has become Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.
