During 4 days from April 3 - 6, the symposium is held in the combination form of a face-to-face and online session with many topics: Mental health; Social-emotional education; Journey to peace and happiness; Develop happiness skills…

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc was delighted with the interest of delegates, experts and teachers on the topic of happy schools. At the same time, he affirmed that this was a big matter, and to build a happy school, there needs to be a whole process, as well as the companionship and cooperation from many sides.

The Deputy Minister wished that the experience and sharing from experts and scholars would not only contribute to Vietnam's education but also to the whole world in building a happy school.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh affirmed that Thua Thien Hue province was very proud when the first international symposium on Happy Schools was held in the ancient capital. Happy Schools aim to form core values, which are: love, safety and respect, in which each member from administrators, teachers and learners is free to voice their thoughts. It is also a favourable place to innovate and maximize the potential of each individual.

In this environment, all members feel that every day at school is a happy day, the school is like a family. A happy school must be a place where teachers feel it as their home, and students as their children; in contrast, parents and students must also behave appropriately.

The Permanent Vice Chairman also hoped that through the symposium, experts and scholars could consult mechanisms, policies and solutions to build a happy school model associated with traditional values, especially characteristic of the land and people of Hue.

The symposium was held to summarize the pilot phase of the Happy School program in Thua Thien Hue province, share lessons and evaluation reports from the University of Education, Hue University; acknowledge the progress and continue to develop the Happy School project in Vietnam. At the same time, an international network of scientists and practitioners was established, to support and learn from each other; motivate policy makers in Vietnam and the world to look back and consider the best way to incorporate the happiness and well-being of teachers and students into the policies and strategies of the education sector…
