FAO supports livelihoods for nearly 2,200 poor households in Thua Thien Hue
TTH.VN - Via the Provincial Red Cross, 2,162 poor households in the districts of Phu Vang, Quang Dien, Phong Dien and Phu Loc are selected to participate in the “Restoring the food security and provide livelihood support to poor communities affected by Damrey” project, which is funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The project is implemented from now to May 2018. It aims to consider 1,162 households for cash support, with an average of VND 2.2 million per household; the rest are supported with breeding plants, animals and household economic development tools, with an amount of VND 3.5 million per household.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross said that the project aimed to contribute to the restoration and improvement of poor households’ livelihoods in the communes of Phong Chuong and Phong Binh (Phong Dien district); Quang Vinh commune (Quang Dien district); the communes of Vinh Xuan, Phu Dien, Vinh Ha (Phu Vang district); and the communes of Loc Tri, Loc Thuy, Loc Tien, Vinh Hien (Phu Loc district), affected by typhoon Damrey at the end of 2017.
Currently, the Provincial Red Cross has been coordinating with local organizations and unions to train and develop monitoring plans, helping people use the capital and breeding plants, animals of the project for the right purposes and efficiently.
