Nearly 150 athletes participate in National Junior Badminton Championship

TTH.VN - On June 4th, at the Provincial Sports Center, the National Junior Badminton Championship 2017 - the second VINA - STAR Cup collaboratively organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and the Badminton Association of Vietnam started. Bui Thanh Ha, Deputy Standing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee attended the opening ceremony.

The tournament gathers nearly 150 athletes from 24 provinces and cities throughout the country. The athletes have competed in 6 categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, mixed men and women teammates under 18 years old. Thua Thien Hue delegation has 8 players.

According to the organizing board, this is an annual tournament aimed to evaluate training activities of young athletes in localities and departments.

Coach Dang Nhi Ha, head of the provincial badminton department said that it was a rather difficult tournament for the provincial badminton players, as they all met strong opponents. However, the whole team determined to do their best to give the fans beautiful matches.

The championship ends on June 9th.

Thua Thien Hue clinched 14 medals, ranking 3rd in the entire delegation

The 2024 National Sambo Club Championship, co-organized by the Administration of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in Nam Dinh Province, closed on May 27. This is the first time the Sambo Club Championship has been organized on a national scale. At the finish of the tournament, the Thua Thien Hue delegation clinched 14 medals, ranking 3rd in the entire delegation in their first-time competition.
