Prime Minister works with Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd., Bach Ma National Park, Hue University

TTH.VN - During his visit to Thua Thien Hue, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the delegation of the Government met with representatives of Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd. (Singapore), Bach Ma National Park and Hue university.

Continuation of investment in the second phase of Lang Co Laguna project

This morning, the Prime Minister paid a visit to Lang Co Laguna Resort, invested by Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd. Having been granted an investment certificate in 2007, Laguna Lang Co has completed the first phase of the project with the introduction of Angsana Lang Co Hotel with 229 rooms, golf course and many other items with the total investment of USD 230 million.

Recently, the project proposed an increase of investment capital from USD 875 million to USD 2 billion to deploy additional 5-star hotels, including world-class villas, apartments, casino.

The Prime Minister expressed his expectation that Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd. will continue to invest in the second phase of the project to turn Laguna Lang Co into the leading resort complex in Vietnam and a remarkable one of the region.

In the visit to Bach Ma National Park, the Prime Minister appreciated the achievements of the park regarding the efforts of conserving the nature and biodiversity of Bach Ma park and acknowledged the suggestions for sustainable tourism development of Bach Ma National Park.

A university town should be soon introduced

Also on the same morning, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and worked with Hue University, listening to many proposals of its professors and doctors. The Prime Minister recognised the proposal of Hue University’s Presidential Board on the additional investment of USD 100 million to build Hue University Town at the Truong Bia area and allowed Hue University to embark in a route towards autonomy.

The Government leader highly prized the results that Hue University has achieved while pointing out some limitations the institution should overcome. He suggested that Hue University and its member institutions strengthen their linkages with employers during their training schemes, organize vocational orientation programs, emphasize the enhancement of professional qualifications and ethics of officials and lecturers, and fortify international relations and cooperation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc agreed to steer the search of all potential resources in response to the investment project of an university town matching the position of Hue University. At the same time, he assigned the local government and political system to mobilise and promote stronger efforts aiming at an early introduction of the university town.

Expanding the operation mechanism of regional university, granting the right to Hue University to take proactive steps in building the university autonomy.

On the afternoon of the same day, the Government delegation working with the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province.
