Collecting Hue heritage documents from France

TTH.VN - In an effort to collect and duplicate documents for the work of relic renovation and preservation, Hue Monuments Conservation Center has sent its staff to the Overseas National Archives (ANOM) in the city of Aix en Provence and the École Française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO) in Paris to access the source of documents related to the Nguyen Dynasty.

Cherishing the dedication towards Hue’s cultural heritage, Thua Thien Hue Online would like to introduce to you a series of photos taken by photographer Nguyen Phuc Bao Minh – one of the delegation’s members taking a mission to France recently. During a more than 20-day trip, the delegation collected nearly 60 sets of documents with around 8.000 written pages and over 1.200 documentary photos. Besides that, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Bao Minh also donated to Hue Monuments Conservation Center nearly 100 old videos, nearly 1.500 books, and 11.000 valuable photos of lost structures, including Can Chanh Palace, Can Thanh Cung, Dai Cung Mon, etc. from his private collections.

This publication is a rather a substantial work translated from the original Vietnamese “Thi pháp Truyện Kiều” (The Poetics of the tale of Kiều) by Professor Tran Dinh Su. This is one of the very rare Vietnamese social science research publications to be translated and published in France.

Reaching villages to digitize Han Nom documents

Hundreds of thousands of Han Nom (Chinese-Nom script) document pages scattered in many villages and clans across the province have been processed and digitized in a scientific and methodical manner. Few know that this work was silently undertaken by a group of officers and experts of the Thua Thien Hue General Library. Many Han Nom documents after being digitized were also published to the surprise of the public and experts.
