A new day on Quang Loi lagoon

Just about 30 kilometers away, Quang Loi Lagoon is not far from the center of Hue City. It's located in Quang Loi Commune, Quang Dien District - a low-lying area rich in cultural identity. Covering approximately 800 hectares, the lagoon is part of the Tam Giang lagoon system. Following the flow of the waters, the lives of the people here are closely tied to the water as they engage in simple and humble fishing activities.

We lay on the sand, quietly hearing the gentle melody of the waves and the melodious sound of winds gently gliding around us. The moon veiled the shore with a dim mist-like light. Far out at sea was layer after layer of light from fishing boats like thousands of remote stars. Amid the peaceful melody of the earth and sky, a gentle sleep came. Until the red east appeared on the horizon, we woke up, starting a wonderful new day.

From July 20 to 26, at Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-cum-convention centre (IECC) in New Delhi, India, a delegation of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, led by Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, attended the programs within the framework of the session, according to the invitation from the Director of the UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee and Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO. The delegation was accompanied by representatives from departments and branches.

On July 20th, the provincial Red Cross Society, Oxfam in Vietnam, and the New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi organized a summary workshop for the project “Post-COVID-19 livelihood recovery for female farmers in particularly difficult and for difficult communes in Thua Thien Hue.” The event was attended by Ms. Caroline Rachel Beresford, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam.
