On October 25th, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue issued updated warnings for areas across the province vulnerable to flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous regions, along transportation routes, and erosion in river and coastal areas.

Thua Thien Hue, with a coastline stretching 120 km, is vulnerable to typhoons and storm surges from the East Sea. Throughout history, Hue has endured severe storms, floods, and droughts, which have had significant impacts on human life, architectural structures, and the natural environment.

On the morning of May 19, the Provincial Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue coordinated with the Institute for Social and Environment Transition – International (ISET-International) – Plan International Office in Switzerland held a national workshop on the project of building up resilience to flood for the community in Thua Thien Hue province.

"The rain forecasting software has assisted in consulting, directing and operating reservoirs, monitoring rain and flood, and sharing information, contributing to the good implementation of natural disaster prevention and control," assessed Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh at the inauguration ceremony of the project for “Emergency Reservoir Operation and Effective Flood Management Using Water related Disaster Management Information System”, which took place on May 12.

On the morning of August 12, the Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention collaborated with Thien Tam Fund to organize the ceremony of acceptance and handing over the automatic rain gauge stations for early warning of floods in the Northern, Central, and Central Highlands provinces in 2022.

Coastal erosions and landslides in Thua Thien Hue province are getting more and more serious. Recently, upon checking the situation of coastal erosion, Recently, Mr. Tran Quang Hoai, General Director of the General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, has asked localities to review and propose plans for urgent handling of critical points and applying advanced solutions to deal with the aftermaths of landslides to ensure safety.
