TTH.VN - What would possibly be better on a hot summer day than submerging yourself in the clear water, listening to the sound of waterfalls and the murmur of the brooks, playing with schools of fish, etc… Surely, it will be a wonderful and unforgettable experience to come to Khe Me waterfall (Phong My commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue).

The scenery at Khe Me Waterfall is described as a miniature “Valley of Love”

We came to Khe Me one day in May, which was considered to be the most suitable time to explore, submerge in the cool streams and immerse with nature to relax and have fun after hectic days of hard work.

About 40km north of Hue city center, Khe Me waterfall welcomes backpackers and tourists who love to conquer nature, to explore its wild and magnificent beauty.

Following the 1A National Highway, turning left at Road 9 (DT9) into the forest road for about 20 minutes to get there. Driving on the windy roads, breathing in fresh air and admiring the beautiful scenery of majestic mountains and forests, is already enough for your sorrows and worries in life to fade away.

Khe Me Waterfall is located deep in a quiet and somewhat mysterious pine forest. Most of its wilderness beauty are still intact as Khe Me has yet to be exploited nor invested in as a tourism site. There are not many visitors to the waterfall, most of them being locals.

Khe Me is divided into three parts: The fast-flowing waterfall starts from the upstream of the O Lau River. The distance from the highest cliff of the waterfall to the water surface of the lake is about 5 meters. The lake, which is 4 meters deep, is so quiet and clear that one can even see its bottom; and the long murmuring stream is separated from the lake by large rocks.

To enjoy the cool feeling and immersing yourself in nature, you can lie down on the rocks and listen to the murmur of the stream, breathe in the cool air and listen to the birds chirping in the trees along the stream. Set aside the long days of hard work, immerse yourself in the cool water, you can feel all the quintessence of nature.

Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu (Hue City) shared: "From the moment I came here, I was attracted by the murmur of the streams and a clear, cool lake. The lake was large and airy. Trees on both sides of the waterfall casted their shades, creating a poetic and charming scene. It was like a miniature "Valley of Love". My friends and I also had time to take check-in photos at Khe Me on that memorable trip."

A small reminder when coming to Khe Me waterfall is that there are no catering nor parking services here, so you will need to bring your own food, drinks and take care of your personal belongings. Invite a few friends or go with your family, you will have a very enjoyable picnic in the heart of a sacred forest.

Sitting in the middle of the romantic mountain scenery, immersing yourself in the refreshing breath of water and mountains is truly an unforgettable experience for any visitor who set foot upon Khe Me.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Chung, Chairman of Phong My Commune People's Committee, Khe Me waterfall is a part of Phong Dien's forest system within the commune’s planning. Currently, there have yet any investment projects on tourism activities, so Khe Me is still a spontaneous tourist area. In the near future, the commune will consider calling for investment so that Khe Me can be expanded and developed, utilizing its potential in promoting local tourism.
